Vision
Utilize the specialized and unique professional engineering resources to establish and organically grow a center for engineering innovation that focuses on translational development work, bridging the gap between basic science and engin¬eering innovation and commercial product development.
This center will be instrumental in:
- facilitating sustainability and success of existing businesses and future startups,
- maturing and de-risking technologies and thus increasing IP and commercial value, and
- developing and growing (larger scale) contract funding for sponsored research and development in Utah.
Mission and Activities
In micro, nano, and system integration we are offering to:
- Mature technologies and increase IP value through prototyping
- Support on and off campus technology commercialization activities with technical/engineering know-how
- Advise faculty and student inventors on commercialization
- Offer opportunities for student and faculty participation and skill development in translational development and engineering
- Engineering/prototyping and support for existing commercial or federal contracts
- Team building and bidding for large procurement style government contracts
- Service for local industry through contract engineering/research/development
- Support early stage (SBIR/STTR type) engineering/development and proposals
- Support small businesses and startups with fast access to professional support
- Connect entrepreneurial researchers across college boundaries
